Post subject: Problem Firstspot v6.0.9 anonymous Login with Shared Secret

Hello,

we have a Problem that our Firstspot System only allows a few
connections.
We have anonymous login with shared secret enabled.
Is it possible that about 250 User can use the anonymous login simoultanously?
We have the Problem that only a few Users can connect with shared Secret. Can this be a Problem with the Software?
Thanks for any advise.

kind regards
Matze

There shouldn't be any limitation on Shared Secret. What are the symptoms (e.g. error message) of your problem?

Also, you might want to evaluate the latest v7. FirstSpot v7 now supports Multiple Logins for normal username/password and scratch code mode.

the DHCP Service went stuck. I have disabled the DHCP Service from the Software and installed another DHCP Service.

You can simply increase the IP address pool by changing the Visitor Network Interface subnet mask to 255.255.0.0. Please refer to chapter 3 (DHCP section) of firstspot_guide.pdf for more information.

the dhcp pool had an subnetmask of 255.255.248.0 so this wasn't the problem.
the dhcp service simple doesn't answer DHCP Request.
the clients showed an ip-adress of 169.254.x.y

If there is any static IP, please make sure you include them in DHCP -> Excluded IP also.

You can also reset the DHCP IP assignment history by the following steps:
- stop FirstSpot
- rename the file dhcpservice.ini under FirstSpot\dhcp directory to something else
- start FirstSpot
