I am quite sure that your problem is in the Routing and Remote Access service. You have to fix that problem first before running FirstSpot.

If you cannot fix it, you might want to reinstall FirstSpot in a clean Windows PC.

I don't know if it's your problem but if your are running kerio personal firewall on the firstspot machine you *must* enable gateway mode on kerio to make redirection working fine.

hi alan,

i tried re-installing my first spot machine and installed firstspot on it but still the same problem. the client machines after logging in just get the redirecting to the original url shortly page then gets an error saying the page cannot be displayed. Any other ideas.

Have not installed any firewall applications on my FS machine, if this might help tried internet connection sharing and clients can access the web successfully.

thanks for the support.

Do you still have problem with Routing and Remote Access service? Reinstall FirstSpot in the same Windows machine probably won't solve the problem.

Also, FirstSpot is NOT compatible with internet connection sharing, you have to turn it off before starting FirstSpot. Refer to readme.rtf for more information.

hi alan,

i dont know whats the problem with Routing and Remote Access Service on Win2K Pro. Could you give me some steps on troubleshooting it?

Anyways, I've tried installing Firstspot on the same machine this time with WinXP instead of Win2K OS and everything works well.

any ideas, about this any FS issues with regards to OS used. Temporarily we'll just be testing FS in WinXP OS but we prefer to install FS on a Win2K OS in it. Thanks for the support. Your comments are most welcome

Routing and Remote Access Service (RRAS) on Win2K Pro should have no problems at all.

There are many reasons for RRAS to fail, sometimes due to service dependencies (you uninstall or stop something that RRAS depends on - e.g. Remote Registry). Sometimes it is just corrupted for unknown reason. Unless you have deep understanding on troubleshooting Windows, reinstall Windows is probably the fastest way to fix the problem sometimes.
